Behavioural strategies to increase physical activity in adults

Consider the use of effective low-cost motivational and behavioural strategies for increasing physical activity.

Behavioural and motivational approaches to increase the likelihood of enduring behaviour change include; increasing motivation, self-efficacy, sense of control over physical activity,  using a personalized approach with social support and setting of meaningful goals.

These strategies can lead to increases in exercise self-efficacy as well as self- management skills such as self-regulation and action planning, which in turn are expected to lead to long-term increases in activity.
